Evanescence Hit Clarkston, MI on Sanctuary Tour stop

Evanescence enthralled with their set on their Sanctuary Tour stop in Clarkston, Michigan on
Sunday, August 2nd .

The highly regarded alternative metal band roared through 21 songs during their hour and forty-
minute set.

They shared the stage with British electronic punk duo Nova Twins and Canadian metal band
Spiritbox, who impressed with a cinematic set filled with strong visuals, bubbles and powerful
vocals from front woman Courtney LaPlante.

With smoke swarming the stage, Evanescence kicked off their set with “Sanctuary,” the title of
the tour and latest album.

Throughout the evening, they performed a number of new tracks including the hard-hitting “Tell
Me When You’ve Had Enough” and the gripping “Rapture.”

The band, which includes Troy McLawhorn and Tim McCord on guitars, Emma Anzai on bass
and Will Hunt on drums, was in top form and Amy Lee is one of those rare vocalists who shines
more in a live setting than on the studio recordings.

The fact that she can effortlessly move from soaring piano ballads to guttural screams is always
mesmerizing and brings a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Set highlights included the intense “Going Under” and “Call Me When You’re Sober” and the
haunting “Lithium” and “My Immortal,” both backed by a packed crowd full of phone lights
loudly singing along.

Lee was also joined by the Nova Twins and LaPlante for a victorious “Fight Like a Girl.”

With eye popping visuals, lots of fire, confetti canons and moving platforms, the band kept the
intensity throughout and paid tribute to the past and celebrated their future.
