MINISTRY Have Announced The Release Date Of Their Final AlbumHate To Go (Take Out or Delivery)

If you're keeping score at home, this isn't the first time Ministry has announced its final chapter. It isn't even the second. But this time, industrial metal icon Al Jourgensen insists the end is real.


Ministry has officially announced its 17th studio album, Hate To Go (Take Out or Delivery), arriving October 30 via Cleopatra Records, along with the first leg of what is being billed as the band's farewell tour.


At 67 years old, Jourgensen sounds more at peace than ever with the decision to close the book on one of heavy music's most influential and uncompromising careers.


"I'm fucking done," Jourgensen said. "I'm proud of what I've accomplished. I'm amazed at the path that it's taken, from With Sympathy to where we're at today, and all points in between. It's been quite a ride, but I'm completely at peace with the fact that it's done. It's time to herd goats."


Forgive fans for being a little skeptical.  Jourgensen previously declared 2007's The Last Sucker would be Ministry's swan song before resurrecting the band. History repeated itself with 2013's From Beer to Eternity, an album made even more emotional by the posthumous contributions of legendary guitarist Mike Scaccia.


Yet Ministry always found another reason to return, and heavy music has been better for it.


Ironically, the band's recent embrace of its earliest material may have helped bring everything full circle. After decades of distancing himself from Ministry's synth pop beginnings, Jourgensen finally revisited With Sympathy and Twitch, taking those songs back on the road before releasing The Squirrely Years Revisited in 2026. It was a rare moment of reflection from an artist who has spent most of his career looking forward instead of backward.


Maybe that's why this farewell feels different.


Leading the charge is the blistering first single, "Burned Out," a track that reminds listeners exactly why Ministry has remained such a vital force for more than four decades. Fueled by crushing riffs, mechanical grooves, and Jourgensen's unmistakable venom, the song takes aim at political dysfunction, societal decay, and the frustration of watching ordinary people pay the price for those in power.


In other words... It's classic Ministry.


Adding even more weight to the album is the return of longtime bassist Paul Barker, whose partnership with Jourgensen helped define Ministry's golden era. Barker appears on the album's closing track, "We're Still Here," marking his first performance on a Ministry studio release since 2003's Animositisomina. For longtime fans, it's a reunion that feels both symbolic and fitting as the band prepares to take its final bow.


Whether this truly is Ministry's last ride remains to be seen. Rock and metal history is filled with "farewell" tours that eventually became reunion tours. But if Jourgensen means it this time, Hate To Go (Take Out or Delivery) has all the ingredients to serve as a fitting final statement from one of industrial metal's most fearless and influential bands.
