The sequel to New Line Cinema’s 1991 movie, Guyver is getting new life. Guyver 2: Dark Hero is scheduled for re-issue Sept. 8 through Toy Robot Video. The company is a new subsidiary of Arrow Video. According to information in a news release distributed by the company, the movie’s new presentation will be on a 2-disc Blu-ray set. The forthcoming re-issue will come more than two years after Unearthed Classics, another independent distributor, re-issued Guyver on a new 3-disc 4K/BD/CD set that came complete with the soundtrack to that movie. In this 1994 movie, Sean Barker (played this time out by David Hayter in place of Jack Armstrong) continues his battle against the evil Kronos Corporation in defense of the planet. In the process, Sean wants only to be separated from the Guyver unit, leading him to an archaeological dig site in Utah, where things really pick up. Eventually everything leads up to a shocking finale that will be left for audiences to discover for themselves. According to the distributed press release, the movie’s forthcoming re-issue will feature on one disc, the original theatrical cut of Guyver 2 while the other disc will feature and “enhanced version with added special effects.” More information on this and other titles from Toy Robot, including a forthcoming re-issue of the original Masters of the Universe, is available at Toy Robot Video.
