Rock outfit 12 Stones returned this week with its first new music in six years.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Golden Child‘ Thursday, along with the song’s visualizer. The song’s musical arrangement is a melodic hard rock composition that is easily comparable to the works from the likes of Hinder and others of that ilk what with its melody, the distinct vocal delivery of front man Paul McCoy, and the rich sound from the drums and bass.

McCoy discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“The song is about realizing that in some relationships people never actually know each other because they were left clinging to a good memory of a better time, to the point that they can’t see the forest for the trees,” said McCoy. “Sometimes the truth is right in front of us. We just have to open our eyes and take notice of who we’ve become.”

The visualizer for the new single is a simple, two-part presentation featuring in part, leaves floating in the water and a blindfolded woman praying in the other.

‘Golden Child’ is 12 Stones’ first new music since the release of its then latest album, Picture Perfect in 2017. The new single was released through a partnership between SV Records and Judge & Jury Records. The single was produced by Howard Benson, who has also worked with the likes of P.O.D., Papa Roach, and Three Days Grace. Interestingly, Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson co-produced the song alongside Benson.

In other news, 12 Stones has a handful of live performances schedule between Jan. 31 in Covington, LA and March 1 in Gastonia, NC. Following that brief upcoming run, the band is also scheduled to take part in the 2026 Creed Cruise Apr. 17-21 and then joining Powerman 5000 and Makes My Blood Dance from Apr. 30 to May 23. A pair of festival dates are also scheduled for June 6 and September 6 at Rock on the Hill and velocity Festival respectively.
