As I Lay Dying premiered its latest single this week. The band debuted its new single, ‘If I Fall‘ and its companion video Wednesday. The song is the band’s second single since unveiling its then latest single, ‘Echoes’ and its video early last month. Front man and lone original As I Lay Dying member Tim Lambesis discussed the song is a prepared statement. “I wrote the first version of ‘If I Fall’ before the new lineup even came together, and I knew the song had real potential,” said Lambesis. As each musician joined the process, that potential only grew — everyone brought something that elevated what I’d already started. Musically it hints at what’s possible with this refreshed energy, and lyrically it reflects the kind of people I want around me for this next and best chapter.” The musical arrangement featured in this new single is full-on metalcore a la Killswitch Engage, what with the guitar line and the blend of screams and clean vocals. Thanks to the production, the punch of the drums and bass add a powerful touch to the whole as well. The song’s video is another simple style presentation. It features the band (in its current lineup) performing its new single on a unique dressed sound stage as the song plays over the visualization.
