By: Philip Sayblack Hard rock act Degreed opened the weekend with the first preview of its forthcoming album. The band premiered its new single, ‘Broken Dreams’ and the song’s companion lyric video Friday. The song and its video are the first from the band’s forthcoming album, Curtain Calls, which is scheduled for release Apr. 10 via Frontiers Music. The musical arrangement featured in Degreed’s new single is immediately comparable to works from prog-metal legends Dream Theater. At the same time, there is a clear “Euro-metal” lean within the song’s four-and-a-half-minute composition, too. The whole makes the song overall worth hearing at least once among prog fans. Front Man Robin Eriksson discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement. “This song shows a darker and deeper side of Degreed,” said Eriksson. “The lyrics are very personal for me. I wrote them about finding my way back to life after years of addiction.” The song’s lyric video presents the song’s lyrics over a variety of landscapes as the song plays over the visualization.
