By: Philip Sayblack Lamb of God will tentatively release its latest album this winter. The band announced this week, it is scheduled to release its new album, Into Oblivion March 13 through its longtime label home, Epic Records. According to information provided in the news release announcing the album’s pending release, it will appeal to established audiences with the band’s familiar groove metal approach. Front man Randy Blythe said the album’s title was chosen “Because that’s where we’re heading. In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago.” The album’s track listing is noted below: Into Oblivion tracklisting: 1. Into Oblivion 2. Parasocial Christ 3. Sepsis 4. The Killing Floor 5. El Vacío 6. St. Catherine’s Wheel 7. Blunt Force Blues 8. Bully 9. A Thousand Years 10. Devise/Destroy In anticipation of the album’s release, Lamb of God premiered the video for the song’s third single, its title track, this week. No information regarding the video’s treatment was provided in the news release announcing the details of the new album and video. From what can be inferred, it tells the story of a young woman who is using medication to control her moods and behaviors. In the process, she is seeing what seems to be a darker side of herself everywhere and is eventually overpowered by that darker side of herself. That is just this critic’s interpretation of the video. Meanwhile the band performs its new single alongside this tale as the song plays over the visualization. The song’s musical arrangement is, again, familiar territory for the band. It is a full throttle groove metal composition that established audiences will appreciate. Into Oblivion has produced two other singles so far: ‘Sepsis‘ and ‘Parasocial Christ.’ In other news, Lamb of God recently announced it will launch a tour in support of Into Oblivion March 17 in National Harbor, MD. The first leg of the tour is scheduled to run through Apr. 26 in Boston, MA and includes stops in cities, such as Raleigh, NC; Inglewood, CA and Portland, OR.
