Independent rocker Michael Monroe released his new album, single and video this week.
Monroe released his new album, Outerstellar Friday. Ahead of its release, Monroe released the album’s third single, ‘Shinola‘ Wednesday. The song’s musical arrangement is an upbeat garage rock/punk style composition that lends itself to comparison to works from Social Distortion front man Mike Ness.
The song’s lyrical theme centers on a toxic figure who basically gets his in the end. Monroe briefly addressed the song’s theme in a prepared statement.
“‘Shinola’ was obviously originally written about a certain jerk but unfortunately most of us can relate as we know a lot of them,” said Monroe. “There’s a lot of negative, ignorant idiots in the world and sometimes it’s good to vent frustrations by singing about it. And Karma always gets us in the end anyway!”
Outerstellar has produced two other singles ahead of this latest single’s release in the form of ‘Rockin’ Horse,’ and ‘Disconnected.’ Both singles are streaming here.
