By: Philip Sayblack Sevendust offered audiences their first preview of its new album, One, this week. The preview came Thursday in the form of the band’s new single, ‘Is This The Real You?’ The song’s musical arrangement is a hybrid composition that blends elements of the band’s early days and its current era. The staccato nature of drummer Morgan Rose’s performance and guitarist John Connolly’s performance conjures thoughts of works from the band’s early days while the semi-bluesy nature in front man Lajon Witherspoon’s vocal delivery offers a new approach. The whole makes the song a unique presentation that is sure to engage and entertain audiences in its own right. The news release announcing the debut of the new single and its companion video does not address the song’s lyrical theme directly but it is clear through the lyrics and the song’s video that the song lyrically addresses which side people show of themselves to the world. The song’s video features a series of stories that find people showing their worst sides after being tempted by a figure who is clearly intended to be the devil. This as the song plays over the visualization. The religious theme featured here will allegedly run through One as it was reported some time ago that according to Connolly, much of the album will have religious overtones. In other news, Sevendust is touring Europe alongside Napalm Records label mate Alter Bridge, which is touring in support of its own newly released self-titled album. Following the tour, which is scheduled to run through March 5 in Nottingham, UK, Sevendust will launch its own North American tour Apr. 16 in Carterville, IL. That tour is scheduled to run through May 21 in Nashville, TN and includes stops in cities, such as Charlotte, NC; Wichita, KS and Dallas, TX. Each tour’s schedule is noted below.
