Slayer’s sophomore album, Hell Awaits is getting renewed attention. Released in 1985 through Metal Blade Records, the album is the focus of a new collection on Slayer’s online “museum,” the “Slaytanic Verses.” The new collection, which can be viewed here, is dubbed “Hell On Tour.” “Hell On Tour” display revisits the band’s album and the tour the band held in support of the record. The tour took the band around the world, performing 60 shows across seven countries. The new collection also features never-before-seen interviews with front man Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King reflecting on the tour and the album’s creation. Hell Awaits is acclaimed among audiences and critics alike for the unique composition style that the band took throughout the album, what with the thrash arrangements, the varied tempos, and other minutae. The record has been certified platinum since its release and been noted for its influence on so many of Slayer’s contemporaries in the hard rock and metal communities.
