Wage War’s next record will arrive this spring.
The band announced Wednesday through a news release, it will release its new EP, It Calls Me By Name Apr. 17 through Fearless Records. In anticipation of the record’s release the band also premiered the EP’s lead single, ‘Swamp Song‘ and its companion video this week.
The song’s musical arrangement is a familiar, heavy metalcore composition that will appeal equally to established and new Wage War fans. From the crunching guitars to the equally powerful vocal delivery and the solid rhythm section, each piece of this composition offers its own appeal. The whole makes the song’s musical arrangement a solid first impression from the forthcoming EP.
The song’s lyrical theme was discussed briefly by the band in a collective, prepared statement.
“The tone setter, SONG OF THE SWAMP’ is rooted in where we’re from,” the statement reads. “Driven by Florida and the raw aggression of nature, it’s a heavy track built on tension and hostility.”
The statement also saw the band address the EP, noting, “It Calls Me By Name is about being drawn to your roots. This isn’t a concept EP but is meant to live in its own world. Five tracks shaped by Florida, the swamp, and the relentless aggression of nature. Built heavy, but still driven by the hooks that have defined us. It’s our signature sound amplified and pushed further into metal than we’ve ever taken it.”
