By: Philip Sayblack Whitechapel unveiled the video for its latest single this week. The band premiered the video for its new single, ‘Prisoner 666’ Wednesday. ‘Prisoner 666’ is the latest single from Whitechapel’s latest album, Hymns in Dissonance, which was released in March through the band’s longtime label, Metal Blade Records. The album has also produced three other singles ahead of this song’s debut — ‘Hate Cult Ritual,’ ‘A Visceral Wrath,‘ and the album’s title track. Guitarist Alex Wade talked about the song’s musical arrangement in a prepared statement. “It’s got heavy ‘Saw Is The Law’ [from the band’s 2014 Our Endless War full-length] vibes in the opening groove; it’s like we took that song and made it more epic and melodic,” said Wade. “The ‘beats per minute’ are pretty similar to ‘Saw….'” Front man Phil Bozeman addressed the song’s lyrical theme in his own statement. “‘Prisoner 666’ was the first song we wrote and musically feels like the 2014/2021 WHITECHAPEL morphing back into the 2006-2010 WHITECHAPEL and continuing the 2006-2010 era for the rest of the album,” said Bozeman. “This is the beginning of the narrative of ‘the last living son’ of the Father Of Lies coming to be. Relinquishing his faith, religion, burning the church, and serving Satan, who he believes is his father.” In other news, Whitechapel is set to launch a fall tour in support of Hymns in Dissonance starting Nov. 12. The band will perform its new album in its entirety at each concert. Bodysnatcher, Angelmaker, and Disembodied Tyrant will share time as support for the tour.
